Arts & Culture: Graduation Day at the Barbican - Update

Hello readers and welcome again to Arts & Culture.

You may remember that a couple of weeks ago I graduated at the Barbican in London, and I posted a YouTube video and a link to the Barbican website?  Well, my graduation day was long and we all had sore feet at the end of the day, but it was absolutely brilliant.  The Open University had the ceremony arranged perfectly, and walking across the stage to accept my degree was a lot less scary than I'd expected!  Here's a shot of me just after the presentation:

The Barbican centre was quite an eye-opener, as although I'd been there twenty-odd years ago, my visit was to a concert at night, and for all these years I hadn't realised the extent of the site.  It covers quite a large area and has gardens and water terraces along with the apartments, restaurants, theatre and cinema complex.  Here are some shots of our wanderings around the Barbican:

On the water terrace, before the ceremony.  It was a gorgeous, sunny day.

Stunning water gardens surrounded by apartments.

St. Giles' Cripplegate.
We decided, after we'd finished exploring the Barbican, that we'd go for a walk down to the River Thames to see the Millennium Bridge.  This took us up Cheapside, and past the beautiful and iconic St Pauls Cathedral...

St Paul's, early evening.

The Millennium Bridge.
From the centre of the Millennium Bridge we could see Shakespeare's (rebuilt) Globe Theatre...

...and this wonderful early evening view of the London skyline.  You can see the Shard, with Tower Bridge in the distance...

What a wonderful day!
